Our Program
We build nonviolent communities and cultivate empathic leadership through Nonviolent Communication (NVC), working alongside currently incarcerated individuals as partners and co-creators. Through intensive training and structured opportunities to build and practice healthy relationships, participants develop the skills to communicate nonviolently, hold themselves accountable, navigate relationships with care, and be aware of and be responsible for their impact, thereby shifting culture within prison environments.
As part of a one-year program, we offer weekly classes in which participants…
Learn how to give and receive empathy.
Practice using effective and compassionate tools of communication to explore and develop a rich language of feelings so that they can better and more clearly express their authentic selves.
Discover a deeper understanding of basic and universal human needs, explore how they shape past and present choices, and use that knowledge to make purposeful future decisions with integrity and awareness.
Consider strategies to meet their needs in ways that serve both themselves and others.
Cultivate a safe, non-judgmental space to discuss their current lives, take responsibility for their actions, and reflect upon losses and regrets while also celebrating their wins.
